I’ve tested the very shallow end of the waters in Winooski to see who’d help open a coffee house (with the possibility of late hours), and so far so good. This is my formal publication to stir up and determine more interest, this will get syndicated to Facebook and I’ll tag people to help spread the word.

Here are some basic facts:

Use the retail space on Winooski Falls Way or in The Champlain Mill

Provide tea & coffee from Speeder & Earl’s (http://www.speederandearls.com/)

Do live music

Sounds like a typical coffee shop but this is still early days. Please comment…

Updating this thing is such a chore… Oh well, at least I’m even writing something here, I’ve totally ignored my LiveJournal almost entirely since I don’t even know how long.

I work for Physician’s Computer Company in Winooski. Go me. Literally it is a perfect fit for me, I get to administer Linux-boxes all day long and travel around the country doing physical server installs. Fun fun, I say. So far I’ve been down to Salem, MA to upgrade the hardware for a client, and I’m traveling over to Akron, OH in the beginning of December to do the same thing there. Oh and I get to walk to work everyday, and the walk is only about 3 minutes to boot; bee’s knees.

What else is new? I have a bad bearing in the Green Machine, not looking forward to paying to have that fixed, but it must be done. Else wise it’s still running like a champ, even after rolling 200,000 miles! It’s currently at 219k, think I can get it to 300k?

Let’s keep the ball rolling since I have the motivation to post on here (and onto Facebook via RSS)…

I wish I could replace my Samsung Saga with the new VZW Android, I played with both the HTC and Motorola devices at the store and I’m really impressed. I wonder if Motorola is headed in the right direction. Usually their consumer hardware sucks at life, it’s almost as if this phone didn’t come out of ol’BatLabs at all. Hmmm…

Oh, oh… I almost forgot… I own www.802subaru.com
If you drive a Subaru, and have a green plate on it, go check it out! It’s a little light-weight right now, but I just need to get it going. It has great potential, and a kick-ass domain name.

Today at the animal shelter (HSCC) I made a suggestion that improved the quality of life of a feline that’s been feeling pretty lousy. She’d been very cranky ever since I could remember when I started there, and I feel bad for her because she’s such a nice kitty. Evidently, Pixie (AKA Mollie) had been there for about a year… Poor kitty.

After watching her for about six months, I noticed her behaviour around me was very different than when around the other cats in the room. Her expressions would be excited when I came in, but quickly turned sour when the other cats started clamouring for my attention. Mollie became quite hostile and shut-in when the other cats started in on me. I made the suggestion to Melissa today that Mollie should spend some time out of her room and away from the other cats; within minutes she was “smiling” and purring as loudly as she could in Melissa’s office. (Not to mention I noticed the mood of the room seemed to improve as well once Mollie wasn’t around swatting at others’ faces.) Now Mollie will have her own cage, instead of being forced to deal with the other cats.

I’d like to think that by changing how Mollie lives at the shelter for the better, that I made a very powerful impact on her life. By comparison to some personal issues in my life, this made me very happy as well. Mollie may be just a cat, but now she has a better chance of finding a new home.

wtf. seriously?

Why is one man still in charge of what an entire state does? If it passes the House, doesn’t that mean it’s wanted by people with some sort of education and background? If it made it to the House in the first place, doesn’t that mean that the people of the State want it?

Douglas said this is something that isn’t important to the State, and other issues should be discussed and worked on; which I guess is true, but can’t you just pass the damn bill and move on? Is that so hard? Of course this just boils down to politics, and of course just being an ass. He claims that the current Civil Union law serves the state just fine, but that seems contradictory if the people of the State are trying to get this bill passed. What educated person can make that statement, if clearly there’s a bill trying to be passed to “upgrade” our current rights?

I’m just a bit angry about this whole mess, it’s just ridiculous and pointless. What’s so damned hard about letting people be happy?

WLS is the bee’s knees; and I’m not just saying it lightly.
Install it on any machine you want to be kept in-sync with your content and make folder pairs, and auto-magically your files will be kept in-sync via the cloud.

On top of the cool factor of it working behind NAT/PAT routers auto-magically, you can log into a web interface (that works really well in non-IE browsers) and browse and download files from any of your hosts running the application. All over https…

I’ve been using this with my laptop and tower in my apartment for backup purposes; whenever the laptop gets online it can transfer transparently, the only downside is large files take their sweet time due to the bottleneck of the cloud.

I’m just impressed.

Apple’s headquarters is in Cupertino, CA. According to AT&T’s website, there is no supported 3G coverage in Cupertino…

If I live in Vermont, which just barely let AT&T move in, and I want 3G coverage so I can justify buying an iPhone… What in the hell does that mean for me? Guess I’m sticking with Verizon, which I can get EVDO nearly anywhere. Why in the hell is it so hard for AT&T to have the type of coverage that VZW has? (AT&T 3G Supported Areas)

A smarter move on Apple’s part would have been to let the iPhone have the option for different cellular radios. I can guarantee that Apple would have sold enough units to cover the cost of making so many different SKUs. But what do I know as a consumer?
